AB Sandvik Steel has announced that Lars Pettersson, currently President of the Sandvik Tooling business area and President of Sandvik Coromant has been appointed the new President of Sandvik Steel. At the same time, he has also been appointed Executive Vice President of the Sandvik Group.

Lars Pettersson succeeds Ola Rollén who is leaving the Sandvik Group for family reasons and to take up a post of President of the Hexagon Group in Stockholm.

Lars Pettersson has worked in the Sandvik Group since 1978. He joined the Sandvik Steel Research Centre before moving to AB Sandvik Coromant, first as Development Engineer and subsequently Development Manager for Turning Tools. In 1988, he was appointed Executive Vice President Marketing and Technology at AB Sandvik Coromant in New Jersey, USA before returning to Sweden in 1991 as Executive Vice President, Production and Logistics, also at AB Sandvik Coromant. He was appointed President of AB Sandvik Coromant in 1994 and President of Sandvik Tooling in 1999.

With immediate effect Sandvik's President and CEO Clas Åke Hedström takes over the position of President of Sandvik Tooling and Anders Thelin becomes President of Sandvik Coromant.
