Element Materials Technology has completed the acquisition of DNV GL’s German materials testing laboratories, further strengthening its European materials testing presence. In September 2016, Element announced that it had entered into a binding agreement with DNV GL subject to obtaining German regulatory approvals which have now been secured. |

USA independent materials testing organization Element Materials Technology has announced plans for a major expansion of its Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) testing capacity. Expansion work at Element Cincinnati began in June, with Element anticipating completion before the end of 2014. |

Thermoplastic hydrogen storage vessels for fuel cell vehicles

Element Materials Technology is undertaking a major research project from its Hitchin (formerly MERL) UK laboratory on thermoplastic high-pressure hydrogen storage vessels for fuel cell vehicles. The HOST (Hydrogen-Optimization of Storage and Transfer) project is part-funded by the UK Technology Strategy Board (UK TSB) and awarded to a consortium of industry experts for developing hydrogen barrier thermoplastics. Element’s involvement with the HOST project, which has a total project budget of £1million, will last two years. |

Self-healing aerospace composites to be tested in EUR3.7 million research project

Element Hitchin UK has been chosen as a materials testing partner in Hipocrates, a three-year Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) research project worth over EUR3.7 million that is designed to develop state-of-the-art self-repairing composite materials for the aerospace industry. Preliminary work has already started on the venture, to be concluded by November 2016. The pan-European endeavour is being part-funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme, which is contributing EUR2,774,148 to the project. |

Foundation work begins on Oil and Gas Materials Technology Centre

Construction work has begun on Element Material Technology's new Oil & Gas Materials Technology Center, located on a 5.3 acre campus adjacent to the Houston energy corridor. Drainage systems and framing work for foundation stones were laid this week following issuing of the necessary permits from the city of Houston. |

Element Hitchin selected by European Commission to work on thermal barrier coatings for power generation
