Formerly known as The Morgan Crucible Company plc, the company changed its name to Morgan Advanced Materials on 27 March 2013, as it moves to a simpler organisational model which builds on actions to create a unified business.

The two former divisions (Morgan Ceramics and Morgan Engineered Materials) and their associated businesses will transition to the new structure over the coming months.

The company specialises in the design, manufacture and marketing of ceramic and carbon products which are used in a wide range of applications, from transport and telecommunications to fire protection and medical instruments, including components and sub-assemblies using an extensive range of materials, including structural and piezoelectric ceramics, dielectrics, braze alloys, and specialist coatings. It works with manufacturers’ design and R&D teams at local, national and international level on projects from concept and feasibility studies through prototype development to full production.

Morgan Technical Ceramics has seen significant improvements in the operation of four of its sinter fire kilns in Southanpton, England, following a rebuild using involving high temperature insulation, supplied by sister company Morgan Thermal Ceramics. The rebuild project has resulted in dramatically reduced energy costs for each of the four kilns, while delivering assured production efficiency, durability and increasing the total lifespan of the kilns.
