Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today released a new series of low-profile, solid tantalum chip capacitors that offer the industry's lowest equivalent series resistance ratings among comparable devices, reducing power consumption and enabling thinner, more space-efficient end products. The Vishay Sprague 591D-2mm series is designed for use in compact communications and computing systems, including consumer and high-end portable palmtops and notebook and desktop PCs. As the latest addition to Vishay's TANTAMOUNT product line, the 591D-2mm is surface mountable and offers new case size options with 2-mm maximum heights.

The new PowerPAK 1212-8 power MOSFETs, which measure just 3.3 mm by 3.3 mm with a 1.07 mm height profile, will be used mainly as power amplifier switches and load switches in cellular phones, pagers, PDAs and other portable electronic systems.

Industry's first thermally enhanced LITTLE FOOT SC-70 Power MOSFETs

The first thermally enhanced SC-70 power MOSFETs on the market offer package thermal resistance of 35C/W for single-channel devices and 80C/W for dual-channel devices, a respective improvement of 67% and 73% compared with the previous state of the art and similar to the larger TSSOP-8 package. This lower thermal resistance increases power dissipation to a maximum of 1 W in the single-channel SC-70 package, or allows the device to run cooler. Lower thermal resistance also contributes to the reduced conduction losses provided by these devices, in which rDS(on) is 25% or more lower than in standard SC-70 equivalents, extending lithium ion battery power.
 
Vishay launches new thin film resistor networks

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc today announced the release of the MPD, a new series of isolated matched pair resistor networks in the SOT-143 industry-standard package. The new thin film devices will allow designers to replace pairs of discrete resistors with a single-package device where two precision-matched resistors are integrated onto a common silicon substrate. Providing near-identical conditions over time and temperature for each element, the new MPDseries will improve end product performance while reducing component count and saving space with a surface-mount package measuring just 2.8 mm by 2.10 mm with a maximum 1.22 mm height profile.
