Husky Injection Molding Systems’ new 144-cavity Micropitch pre-form mould is now in full production at Southeastern Container’s Enka, NC facility. According to Southeastern the mould is meeting or exceeding targets for cycle time, pre-form quality and acetaldehyde (AA) levels. Several other customers have also placed orders for the new moulds including some repeat orders.
The moulds are designed to fit in Husky’s 600-ton G and X line machines. They provide significant gains over conventional PET systems with outputs increased by 50% over 96 cavity systems.
The 144-cavity is also the first mould to incorporate Husky’s latest hot runner technology. The hot runners feature a leak proof design, a reduction in PET dust generation and are expected to extend typical maintenance intervals to as much as 2 years.
There are a number of proven options available with Husky’s Micropitch moulds to further improve outputs. They include:
· Patented 3-position take-off plate
· Patented CoolJet technology
· Optical part detection
