ABB unveils new products for oil and gas industry

ABB Automation Technologies : 14 March, 2007  (New Product)
ABB is the world
More than 40 ABB experts and representatives will be on hand to welcome customers and present exhibits and ongoing projects at the main stand in Hall J and a booth in the LNG (liquefied natural gas) Park in Hall K.

Among the products and capabilities ABB is featuring at ONS 2006 are:
Extended Operator Workplace for ABB’s System 800xA automation platfor, an outstanding and ergonomically optimized workstation designed to improve operator efficiency and enhance the control room environment. ABB supplies one-third of all control systems for the oil and gas sector worldwide, and EOW is fast-becoming the workstation of choice throughout the industry.

MNS IS cabinet: a low-voltage motor control center with the power and control sections in separate parts of the cabinet to ensure maximum safety. The scalable modular design covers the entire range of needs for the protection and monitoring of electrical motors.

ACS800 liquid-cooled drives: the latest member of ABB’s market-leading ACS800 industrial drives series utilizes direct liquid cooling to reduce the need for high-powered air cooling. The result is a highly efficient, extremely compact and silent drive for the enclosed and demanding conditions of platforms and marine applications.

ABB Oil and Gas Telecommunications: ABB is the world’s leading supplier of telecommunications solutions for offshore platforms, LNG plants and terminals, and pipeline networks. Recent high-profile projects for which ABB has supplied complete telecommunications solutions include Sable Island and Ormen Lange.

ABB will also present a new film on ABB’s revolutionary power-from-shore solution for Statoil’s Troll A platform which was inaugurated in October 2005. The combination of two unique ABB technologies, High Voltage Direct Current Light and Very High Voltage Motors, has enabled Statoil to increase capacity by 25 million cubic meters of natural gas a year and reduce annual CO2 emissions by 230,000 tons.

Following the success of Troll A, BP has become the second oil major to select ABB’s HVDC Light power-from-shore technology for the Valhall platform complex in the North Sea. The solution will significantly reduce BP’s operating costs and cut CO2 emissions by an estimated 300,000 tons.
