Advanced Polymer Alloys, a division of Ferro Corporation, today announced the availability of an improved grade of Alcryn Melt-Processible Rubber, the Alcryn MPR 4000 series. The improved grade provides more efficient processing and greater profitability. APA introduced the improved Alcryn MPR 4000 series.
The 4000 series of Alcryn MPR is designed as an extrusion grade with specific applications in the architectural industry as window and door seals, weather-stripping, and other complex profile extrusions.
The improvements to the 4000 series include a change to its chemical makeup that improves processing performance. As a result, the Alcryn MPR 4000 series can now be extruded more efficiently, causing less die drool, and allowing extruders to run the material more quickly. The result is that more products can be produced in less time with fewer maintenance requirements. Specific benefits of the improved 4000 series include:
- Increase in production line speeds
- Excellent co-extrusion performance with PVC
- Exceptional low-temperature sealing performance
- Low coefficient of friction
- Excellent durability and abrasion resistance
'The new formulation technology in our 4000 series of Alcryn MPR makes for easier processing, which can lead to faster extrusion line speed and increased profitability,' said Jeff Senich, business development manager for APA. 'By changing the formulation, we've been able to maintain the material's excellent characteristics, while improving its already outstanding processing characteristics.'
First introduced in 1994, the 4000 series of Alcryn MPR offers moderate flow in general plastic processing; is excellent for complex extrusions; offers superior weather resistance through its black grades; and can be co-extruded and calendar-laminated with PVC without adhesives. Additionally, it can be recycled several times with little effect on either processing characteristics or in product properties. |
