The compact, versatile customer development platform will allow customers to create products and applications targeted at embedded markets. Due to the flexibility of the solution, Advantech can offer embedded market customers cost effective targeted solutions by simply redesigning the base development platform.

'Working with a company like Advantech provides not only a comprehensive solution to the market, but is driving to meet the development needs of our customers,' said Erik Salo, director of marketing for AMD's Personal Connectivity Solutions group. 'This customer development solution will provide customers with an enhanced design experience while reducing design, development and validation times in the creation of low-power, high-performance products, resulting in faster time to market.'

The Customer Development Platform is a flexible solution composed of Advantech's System on Module (SOM-144) featuring AMD's low power Geode GX2 CPU and Geode 5535 chipset. Customers have access to a complete development solution that includes the GX2 System On Module, development board, a preconfigured Windows CE, Linux or Windows XP OS and associated supporting driver set, LCD display, and a range of I/Os. The development platform is ready for project evaluation, application development and feasibility testing, speeding time-to-market response. Delivering flexible functionality in a super small space ( SOM-144 module, 68 x 100 mm), the System On Module GX2 processor platform includes:

∑AMD Geode GX processor with Integrated 2D graphics accelerator and display controller;
∑AMD Geode 5535 chipset which features the following:
∑Integrated USB 1.1 controller;
∑IDE controller/interface;
∑AC97 interface;
∑LPC and IR interface;
∑128 MB DDRAM on board.
