Alfa Chemicals appointed UK and Ireland distributor for DuPont
|
Du Pont Engineering Polymers
: 04 March, 2005 (Company News) |
|
With effect from February 2005, Alfa Chemicals Limited, a leading speciality chemical distributor, is the new distributor of DuPont fluoropolymer additives, including Zonyl |
|
The change in distributorship is a direct result of DuPont's growth strategy for its fluoroadditives business. The company aims to increase the use of its additive technology in several key industries including printing inks, for improved scuff resistance and high temperature drying, thermoplastics, for improved wear resistance and low coefficient of friction and elastomers, for improved abrasion and tear resistance. These are areas where Alfa Chemicals is well-established, particularly as it is already distributing fluorine based products on behalf of DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprises. Alfa Chemicals’ technical competence, structure and support were further factors.
Commenting on the appointment, Michel Hebrard, senior account manager and European additives business manager for DuPont Fluoropolymers, said: “We are convinced that Alfa Chemicals is the right choice as our growth partner, particularly for the fluoroadditives market where we believe there is great growth potential. The fluoropolymer business, which has typically smaller volumes but is highly technical, means that Alfa Chemicals’ own technical expertise can come to the fore.”
Mark Walker, group managing director for Alfa Chemicals, says the company is pleased with the confidence shown by DuPont in awarding the distributorship. “We are delighted with this opportunity to extend our relationship with DuPont and are committed to growing the market for these products. In our opinion, Zonyl® fluoroadditives and Teflon® fluoropolymers are a valuable addition and perfect fit to the range of speciality raw materials Alfa Chemicals already supply to the UK and Irish markets,” said Walker.
Fluoropolymers were discovered by DuPont scientist Roy Plunkett in 1938, and became marketed under the Teflon® brand in the early 1960s. Teflon® is one of the most widely recognised brands in the world and carries with it a reputation for the highest purity, quality and high-performance within a wide range of applications and industries, including automotive, aerospace, food, pharmaceutical, chemical processing and semi-conductors.
Alfa Chemicals, an independent privately owned company, is one of the UK’s leading distributors of speciality chemicals. The company has an innovative approach to product development, with up-to-date technical expertise in the relevant industries supplemented by a nationwide sales-force. |
