Anti-graffiti facade elements from ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme

ThyssenKrupp Steel : 24 June, 2006  (New Product)
Anyone building a house wants it to keep looking as good as new for as long as possible. That's why the company Straub Etiketten GmbH chose an anti-graffiti coating for the facade of its new factory building in Fehrbellin in the German state of Brandenburg. This new surface not only provides protection against graffiti artists, it also stays cleaner longer than conventional steel facades and is easier to clean. The only supplier of steel construction elements with anti-graffiti coating is ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme GmbH, headquartered in Kreuztal in Germany's Siegerland region.

The company supplied 1,500 square meters of isowand vario facade elements with anti-graffiti coating for the new factory building, plus an additional 1,900 square meters of perforated and non-perforated trapezoidal profiles for the roof. Isowand vario is a low-weight sandwich element with concealed fastenings and a rigid polyurethane foam core for excellent heat insulation.

The anti-graffiti effect on the isowand vario elements is provided by a clear coating containing a special additive which prevents the spray paint from reacting with the surface and forming a permanent bond. Graffiti can be washed off quickly and easily using nothing more than water; elaborate pretreatment with solvent-containing chemicals is no longer necessary.

ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme supplies the anti-graffiti coating on trapezoidal profiles and sandwich elements for both indoor and outdoor use as well as on flashings. A wide range of colors is available: ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme offers the anti-graffiti coating on all PVDF (polyvinyldene fluoride) and metallic paints as well as on the ReflectionsOne color collection developed in collaboration with renowned color designer Friedrich Ernst von Garnier.

The clear coating with anti-graffiti additive is applied to the colored top coat. Beneath the top coat, the steel strip from which ThyssenKrupp Hoesch Bausysteme manufactures its construction elements has a protective zinc coating. The special additive in the clear coating has hydrophobic properties, i.e. it is water-repellent, which is why anti-graffiti facades stay cleaner longer than conventional steel facades and are easier to clean. The colored PVDF top coat is particularly weatherproof, insensitive to ultraviolet radiation and resistant to industrial and exhaust emissions.
