R. Thomas ‘Tom’ Pugh, commercial business manager for Advanced Polymer Compounding (APC), a division of Ferro Corporation, was recently elected to the board of directors for the Extrusion Division of the national Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).
Pugh will serve a two-year term as a member of the board.
The Extrusion Division of SPE works to advance the technical body of knowledge in the plastics extrusion industry by promoting extrusion technical information and activities through all levels of the SPE.
'Tom is a valuable asset to the continued success of APC. His election to the SPE Extrusion Division board validates what we already know; that he is a knowledgeable resource in the plastics extrusion industry,' said E. David Santoleri, general manager of APC.
At APC, Pugh is responsible for managing and developing new business opportunities for the custom and toll compounding company. APC offers manufacturers the opportunity to:
*test new products without excessive capital expense;
*react quickly to market demands; and
*build market volume prior to in-house production.
Pugh is the former business development manager for the custom compounds and resin group of Kleerdex Company, a manufacturer of heavy gauge extruded thermoplastic sheets, custom compounds and dry blends. He is a graduate of Frostburg University, Maryland, USA. Prior to joining Kleerdex in 1993, he spent 10 years with DuPont as a sales manager and sales engineer.
Among the materials that can be developed, tested, and manufactured at APC are reactive, grafted and highly filled engineered polymers, including PP, PE, PEX, TPE, foams, conductives, carbon black masterbatch and others.
