Ashland introduces new resins for vacuum infusion process

Ashland Specialty Chemical Company : 06 October, 2004  (New Product)

Ashland Composite Polymers, a business group within Ashland Specialty Chemical, has launched a new line of polyester and vinyl ester resins, formulated specifically for the vacuum infusion process.

In a continuing effort to develop new solutions to meet changing market demands, Ashland has developed a line of resins that offers tailored cure times to meet a customer's needs. The resins produce a more structurally sound composite part in a ‘worker-friendly’ environment with less resin waste.

'We are pleased to offer a new infusion line of resins that meets the environmental concerns and production needs of today's demanding market place,' said Dwight Rust, Business Development Manager, Ashland Composite Polymers. 'The high performance properties of our resins combined with the vacuum infusion process will provide dependable reactivity, excellent flow and rapid infusion.'

Vacuum infusion moulding is enjoying resurgence because of a continuing focus on reducing volatile organic compounds and hazardous air pollutants in the composites industry.

Ashland's robust group of resins for infusion moulding includes its Hetron, Modar and Aropol lines, bringing low viscosity and superior infusion performance to industries ranging from marine to mass transit.

Ashland Composite Polymers and Ashland Distribution will present a demonstration of ‘The Basics of Infusion Moulding’ on 7 October 2004 and 8 October 2004, at the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) trade show in Tampa, Florida, USA, in the demonstration area.
