Once again, Talbot Design’s expertise was called upon by the Bond production house, EON Production Team, to add to the visual impact of one of the film’s most spectacular scenes set in the Scandinavian Ice Hotel. Talbot Design created special material resembling real ice for the scene.
Specialist supplier Silwood Plastics took Barlo Plastics’ BARLO CAST and Spectar sheet right back into the 'Ice Age' and created visual magic.
Having worked closely with Talbot Design, whose work experience covers many of the 20 Bond films, the Swan Bed was created from 25 separate vacuum formed Spectar sections.
Spectar sheet was easy to work with and to shape, and in this particular case, to vacuum form. It maintained exceptional clarity during fabrication, heating and vacuum forming without whitening. With its exceptional material distribution, Spectar sheet could be drawn deeper, resulting in a detailed part definition during vacuum-forming.
In addition to the spectacular Swan Bed, Talbot Design created 100 Ice Chairs utilising BARLO CAST and Spectar sheets specially treated with crushed film and resin. Combining the two materials proved a perfect solution for producing 100 Ice Chairs. Both BARLO CAST and Spectar sheet are crystal clear, a critical factor for getting the perfect ‘ice look’, while retaining clarity after fabrication. For the 100 Ice Chairs, a minimum thickness was required, but BARLO CAST is available in thickness up to 100mm. |
