Bayer MaterialScience AG : 19 March, 2002  (Company News)

'Bayer remains committed to the polyester resins market,' said Dr. John L. Williams, President, Coatings and Colorants Division and Executive Vice President, Bayer Corporation.
'We will continue to supply customers with these high quality resins by utilizing existing capacity at our New Martinsville, W.Va., and Columbus, Ga., plants,' he added.

Bayer produces liquid polyesters used primarily in adhesives and elastomers, polyester toners for use in reprographic equipment and polyurethane pre-polymers at the Long Island facility. Bayer acquired the Hicksville plant as part of its purchase of Sybron Chemicals, Inc. in 2000. The plant currently employs 62 salaried and hourly workers.

Bayer Corporation's Coatings and Colorants Division produces quality raw materials for polyurethane high-performance coatings and adhesives, as well as polyester resins for environmentally friendly powder coatings applications. The division's products find broad application in the automotive, construction, maintenance, industrial and adhesives markets.
