Colors for High-Grade Plastics: Bayer Increases Capacities for Macrolex
|
Bayer MaterialScience AG
: 02 August, 2001 (Company News) |
|
At its site in Leverkusen, Bayer is investing around EUR 13 million to expand capacities for Macrolex |
|
The expansion has been necessitated by the rapid growth in the world market. Leverkusen was chosen for investment because of the good site infrastructure. The handling of the construction project has been audited to DIN ISO 9001 by T-V Rheinland.
The lightfast and weather-stable colorants from the Macrolex range are used in plastics for many different applications. These include household appliances such as housings for vacuum cleaners and coffee- makers, children's toys, sports equipment, rear lights for cars and PET bottles. Another key use in the automotive industry is in replaceable red plastic paneling (hoods, doors and fenders on the MCC Smart). The colorants are also used in communications equipment, yielding brilliant colors in cellular phones and computer housings.
The strengthening of Bayer's good market position is supported by a patented microgranulation technology. The resulting virtually dust-free supply form makes the colorants easier to handle and process. An ecological expertise confirms that the Bayer colorants and the raw materials used in their manufacture do not constitute a hazard, either in production, processing or disposal.
Modern process control techniques ensure that the products are manufactured within the narrowest of tolerances and are of the highest quality. |
