AR HT from Greene, Tweed & Co Benelux is a new thermoplastic composite, specially developed for bushes, bearings and wear rings in pumps that have to pump highly abrasive, watery media at temperatures up to 135C. It is the result of continuing development of the existing AR materials, producing a material that is highly resistant to higher temperatures, to thermal shock and which is also very impact-resistant, making it an excellent alternative to the more traditional rubber and bronze materials often used in the pumps for the offshore industry and in boiler-feed pumps in public utility companies.
The poor lubricating property of water is a major problem when watery media are being pumped. If this is also combined with abrasive and erosive materials like sand or sludge, then a material has to be of excellent quality to keep the pump running. AR HT from Greene Tweed is extremely abrasion-resistant and has good self-lubricating properties in almost all circumstances. In addition it stands up well to chemicals due to the unique polymer used in the composite.
Like the other composite pump components from Greene, Tweed, AR HT has a low expansion coefficient and retains its shape. It can thus be used with much more smaller tolerances than other materials. At the same time it is easy to turn and mill according to the client’s specifications.
Because Greene, Tweed Benelux holds plentiful stocks of the material in the company’s Quick Response Centre, it can deliver tailor-made components within a week for the repair of overhaul of pumps.
The material is available in diameters varying from 1 inch (2.54 cm) to 33 inch (83.82 cm) and in lengths up to 8 inch (20.32 cm) depending on diameter and wall thickness. |
