December 2004 crude steel production

December 2004 crude steel production (for the 62 countries reporting to the International Iron and Steel Institute)
World crude steel production for the 62 countries reporting to the International Iron and Steel Institute stands at 90.4 million metric tonnes (mmt) for the month of December 2004. This is 11.3% higher than for the same month in 2003.

Asian production reached 44.8 mmt in December. This is a rise of 18.3% compared to December 2003. Chinese production was 26.5 mmt in December, 33.1% higher than for the same month of 2003.

Production for the 25 countries in the European Union was 15.5 mmt in December, 6.2% higher than in December 2003.
