Development of Missile Technologies: call for proposals open for EUR14 million competition

MCM ITP, the Materials and Components for Missiles Innovation & Technology Partnership, has launched a call for research proposals that will make use of the MCM ITP's EUR14 million research budget

The MCM ITP is specifically looking for high quality proposals for research programmes for the development of missile technology, specifically in the following areas:

  • System Level Studies
  • RF Seeker Studies
  • EO Sensor Studies
  • Rocket Propulsion
  • Turbo Propulsion
  • Warheads
  • Fuzes and SAUs
  • Materials and Electronics

Programme should be 1-2 years in duration. The call is open to defence and non-defence companies alike, and submissions from SMEs, academic institutions and research organitsations are particularly welcomed.

Organisations will be guided through the call process as they progress. Full submissions should be submitted by 21 December 2012.

Successful research programmes will be announced and discussed at the MCM ITP's Conference in Lille on 22-23 May 2013. The Materials Session at the Conference, introduced by Azad Hussain (MBDA) and Dr Peter Brown (DSTL), will feature presentations on C-SiC Composites for High Temperature Application by Dave Walker (MBDA) and Dr Geoff Gould (Surface Transforms); Materials & Barrier Coatings for Hypersonic Structures by Michel Blin (MBDA) and Michel Parlier (ONERA); and Materials & Methods for Smart Control & Morphing by Dr Lorenzo Iannucci (Imperial College, London).

The MCM ITP is jointly funded by the UK Ministry of Defence and the French DGA, which provides full information on how to submit a proposal.
