Dieflex ultra cutting rules meet Qualvis' quality needs

Increasing quality demands from the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries to eliminate swarf and dust from packaging has led printed, folding carton specialists, Qualvis to specify Sandvik Dieflex |
|
Sandvik Dieflex Ultra rules from Sandvik Saxon, part of Sandvik Materials Technology, combine the two contradictory requirements of good bendability and high wear resistance. Edge hardening ensures that the sharpness of the cutting edge is maintained throughout long production runs and rules have a friction reducing coating on the cutting edge. The overall result is longer and cleaner cutting with minimum swarf and dust.
Qualvis, based in Thurmaston, Leicestershire specialises in high quality carton printing, particularly for the food and pharmaceutical industries. Stringent quality control procedures are applied throughout its manufacturing processes in order to meet the product quality, cleanliness and hygiene standards set by its customers. All diemaking, die refurbishment and die maintenance is undertaken in-house.
Says Qualvis' diemaker Andy Cherry, 'The properties of Sandvik Dieflex Ultra cutting rules are certainly helping us to meet our quality standards. In addition, current packaging trends mean that Qualvis satisfies market requirements by providing increasingly sophisticated carton engineering solutions. This has an obvious effect on the cutting dies that we are producing with packaging designs using ever more complicated shapes. From a diemaking perspective, the Sandvik Dieflex Ultra rules are ideal and extremely reliable. They offer an optimum and repeatable level of bendability without affecting cutting, coating and wear resistant properties'.
Available as standard with a 42° or 52° cutting edge, Dieflex Ultra rules are supplied in a range of rule heights, in 2, 3 and 4 point sizes and in coils or one
metre lengths. The rules are also produced with Sandvik's new dry rust
protective coating. Specially formulated and developed to replace the traditional
oil protective coating on cutting rules, it offers cleaner handling and improved protection against rust.
