Distrupol expands its coverage and strengthens its business base on the Iberian Peninsula

Since it announced the launch of its business into the Spanish market in September 2003, Distrupol, a member company of Univar and a leading European polymer distributor, technical service provider and application development partner, has been progressively building its operation in the region. |
|
Initially operating from existing on-the-ground resources of its parent company Univar, Distrupol concentrated on the development of business in northeast Spain. In January, having confirmed the underlying strength of the market and building on its early success, the company expanded its operations to provide sales service from four additional centres, effectively providing customers country-wide coverage.
Maintaining the strategy of serving customers with full professional support, the new Distrupol team members are drawn from within Univar. All have been working in technical sales for many years and, of equal importance, have extensive market knowledge and are familiar with the areas they operate in.
Alberto Herrero, a technical sales specialist with more than 15 years field experience with Univar, will continue to represent Distrupol from his Cataluňa base in northeast Spain. New staff and areas are Patxi Garcia; Pais Vasco (north), Ana Furquet; Valencia-Levante (east), Javier Rivero; Madrid (centre) and Luis Rio-Miranda; Andalucia (south).
“The consolidation of our foothold in the region is in line with our original planning,” says Jorge Coutinho, Distrupol’s commercial director for Spain and Portugal. “Importantly, response to our service offering has been strong, confirming our assessment of the market’s importance and providing the impetus for us to drive ahead with the next stage of our plan.
“Now, with the industry-dedicated appointments we have made, we are positioned to fulfil our objective to be a local service provider to customers. And we will, of course, add further resources as these are needed to keep pace with future growth.”
