Distrupol's Paris based French operations, as well as their Benelux operations in Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands, have been certified in accordance with the new ISO 9001:2000 standard. They have thereby come into compliance with the latest standards in the field of quality management. Distrupol is a subsidiary of Univar and one of the most prominent European suppliers of raw materials, technical support and development support to the plastics industry.
François-Xavier du Passage, Managing Director of Distrupol in France is delighted with the certification: 'This brings Distrupol into compliance with the most recent standards in the field of quality assurance and monitoring. For us, this is a further affirmation of our ambition to continuously enhance the quality our service provision to our customers in the plastics industry.'
Rick Sodenkamp, Managing Director of Distrupol in the Benelux adds: 'The ISO9001:2000 standard is fundamentally different from the 'old' 1994 standard. It places more emphasis on customers and market focus. Certified companies, more so than in the past, are expected to adopt an active approach with respect to information streams, simple compliance with standard procedures is no longer adequate.'
Compliance with the new certification also demands management involvement in quality assurance. For example, during the audit the management is required to submit business plans, management strategies and details of company core procedures. Companies must also show how management processes are followed up throughout the organisation.
The Distrupol audit was conducted simultaneously by the local offices of SGS, part of SGS in Switzerland, one of the most prominent quality inspection, surveying and certification organizations. The SGS network consists of more than 1,000 offices and laboratories employing more than 33,000 employees in over 120 countries. The audit, which was conducted on the 8th and 27th January 2004, showed that the Distrupol operations in France and the Benelux are in full compliance with the quality requirements as laid down by the European Committee for Standardization. |
