DSM Engineering Plastic Products assigns new product designation for static dissipative materials

DSM Engineering Plastic Products has established a new nomenclature structure for its unique family of electrostatic dissipative plastic shapes for machining semiconductor manufacturing and testing equipment components. The easy-to-understand nomenclature includes a number which shows the material's heat deflection temperature and a letter(s) which relates to the material's level of surface resistivity:
DSM Engineering Plastic Products has established a new nomenclature structure for its unique family of electrostatic dissipative plastic shapes for machining semiconductor manufacturing and testing equipment components. The easy-to-understand nomenclature includes a number which shows the material's heat deflection temperature and a letter(s) which relates to the material's level of surface resistivity: HR = a high resistivity material, with values in the 10>10 - 1012 ohms/sq range; C = a conductive material, with values in the 102 - 106 ohms/sq range; and for materials with surface resistivities in the intermediate range of 10<6 - 1010, there is no letter designation.

At present, there are four grades of ESd materials available from DSM Engineering Plastic Products:

Semitron ESd 225 - Heat deflection temperature of 225 F and a surface resistivity of 1010 ohms/sq
Semitron ESd 410C (previously known as Semitron ESd 410) - Heat deflection temperature of 410 F and a surface resistivity of 102 - 106 ohms/sq
Semitron ESd 500HR (previously known as Semitron ESd 500) - Heat deflection temperature of 500 F and a surface resistivity of 10>10 to 1012 ohms/sq
Semitron ESd 520HR - Heat deflection temperature of 520 F surface resistivity of 104 to 106 ohms/sq

There are numerous potential applications in semiconductor processing and testing equipment for the Semitron ESd materials. Semitron ESd 225 is an ideal IC inspection station material for making wafer combs, flat finders, and vacuum wand tips. Potential uses for Semitron ESd 410C include handling trays, wafer handling combs and test sockets. Semitron ESd 500HR is an excellent material for making thermal insulation for test chambers, test fixtures, boat inserts and is well suited for use in aggressive wet chemical environments, such as wafer etching and cleaning. Semitron ESd 520HR is ideal for making static-dissipative nests, sockets and contactors for testing semiconductor equipment, and other device handling components.
