Under its own banner of ‘Together creating tomorrow’, the business has embraced the conference and exhibition’s design theme and will have its own material and design engineers on hand to offer expert advice on product development. DuPont is also a launch partner of PDM 2005.
Among concepts and ideas for discussion at the ‘Material and Design Clinic’ are the DuPont offering in flexible solutions, protection of components exposed to extreme environments and structural materials and designs especially for metals replacement. Post-moulding solutions also fall within the DuPont design competence: from decoration techniques, with a range of new, paintable and platable resins, to expertise and advice in assembly technologies, helping reduce application development time and cost.
“We believe that the most critical stage of product development is often the design concept and initial evaluation of using the right material,” says Mark Hazel, design specialist at DuPont Engineering Polymers, UK. “What we will offer at PDM, is the opportunity for those who are either using, or considering, polymers for their product, to speak to us first hand and to hopefully master that stage.”
According to DuPont, the company’s participation reflects its own specific growth programmes, which include comprehensive application development support. “We are convinced that PDM will provide a good forum for us to engage with designers and engineers and to help them by bringing our materials and design expertise to bear on their projects and problems,” says Craig Oliver, DuPont Engineering Polymers marketing manager for Northern Europe.
