Durable, permanent bonding of powder coated surfaces
|
3M Europe
: 11 December, 2002 (New Product) |
|
3M has expanded its range of patented High Bond adhesive tapes with the launch of a new high performance VHB tape specially developed for use with powder coated surfaces. |
|
This new tape will permanently bond a variety of substrates and meets the demands of different markets. Examples include bonding glass to metal in the construction of office interiors and electrical cabinets, metal to metal for metal furniture or elevators and plastic to metal for commercial sign assemblies. For the first time in a tape, it provides the durability and strength of mechanical fasteners such as rivets and screws, without damaging painted finishes.
The new VHB Acrylic Foam Tapes are easy to apply and deliver secure, permanent bonding of powder coated materials. In addition, a single cleaning process replaces the multiple cleaning, abrasion and priming stages of traditional bonding systems. This reduces investment in plant and equipment, labour and material costs, leading to enhanced profitability.
The new VHB tapes permanently bond a broad range of powder coated materials to most plastics, metals and glass. Even between dissimilar materials, the VHB pressure sensitive adhesive system secures an invisible, durable bond.
The tapes are easily die-cut to fit even the smallest, most unusual shapes. Furthermore, the tape absorbs impact, noise and vibration and provides excellent resistance to thermal shock, UV light and corrosion.
3M VHB tapes 5925, 5952 and 5962 are grey, with a closed cell acrylic foam, and come in three thicknesses – 0.64mm, 1.1mm and 1.5mm. They all conform to UL 746C for use with electrical equipment. |
