ESAB builds on environmental success of marathon pac

ESAB Group : 24 April, 2002  (New Product)
Leading welding supplier ESAB is extending its Marathon Pac bulk welding wire range with a larger model able to hold up to 475kg. The extra capacity means the Marathon Pac goes on even longer with fewer operating interruptions for wire replacement. This extended capability, combined with ease of handling and the recyclable corrugated board package, make ESAB Marathon Pac the ideal choice for mechanised welding.

The new 475kg Marathon Pac has been developed from the proven octagonal 250kg Marathon Pac, thereby ensuring the same environmental benefits, along with excellent feed properties. ESAB quick release fittings and a moisture resistant lining are included.

Even a fully laden 475kg Marathon Pac is easy to handle using the ESAB lifting bar, and when finished the octagonal cardboard pack is simply collapsed by hand for recycling or disposal.

When the welding wire is spooled into the Marathon Pac drum it is twisted using a special technique which ensures it is straight as it exits the welding gun. Straight welding wire is easy to feed, gives reliable starts and makes precise contact with the joint. This is necessary for a high quality weld with good penetration and no fused edges. Traditionally spooled wire will often deviate from the centre line, a 'dogs tail' effect, and this can lead to welding faults.

The Marathon Pac 475kg is available from ESAB now and can be supplied with most types of welding wire for MIG/MAG welding such as unalloyed, low alloyed, high alloyed and copper-based solid wires as well as several types of flux cored wires. A Marathon Pac endless version is available for certain solid wires, which means the welding station can operate for as long as required without interruption for wire replacement.

ESAB offers a full range of accessories such as wire conduits, quick connectors, lifting bars, and trolleys which simplify the handling in the workshop and make for maximum productivity.
