ESI Group, leading provider of virtual prototyping and manufacturing solutions, today announces the release of PAM-CAST 2002, the industry's most comprehensive casting simulation solution. The new release offers advanced high pressure die casting capabilities, a new interface with thermo-mechanical coupling, and enhanced data exchange with CAD. PAM-CAST 2002 simulates a wide range of processes including gravity die casting, low pressure die casting, semi-solid, and lost foam processes.
PAM-CAST 2002 offers a breakthrough in the high pressure die casting technology. The definition of the mold cycling sequence, cooling and heating devices are now automatically generated by the user interface allowing faster pre-processing times. New features have been introduced in the solvers to simulate the piston displacement during the first phase injection and its influence on the casting porosity during the third phase. This provides fast and accurate predictions of high pressure die casting. A new particle tracing option facilitates the visualization and understanding of high speed and complex metal flows.
The PAM-CAST graphical user interface offers, within the same environment, a single integrated solution including model set up, volume meshing using either finite difference or finite elements for thermo-mechanical simulation, material database, process definition, job submission, and post-processing. All thermo-mechanical coupling functionalities are now available within the user interface for both process definition and post-processing, providing an easy definition of thermal and mechanical conditions, and a seamless transition from finite volume models to finite element models.
PAM-CAST's new graphical tool for CAD interfacing allows import of geometry files including native file formats like Catia and UGS, automatic topology control and corrections, and fast and reliable surface meshing.
'Lead time reductions of more than 60% have been reported by customers using the new CAD interfacing tool along with our methodology, as compared to more traditional surface meshing solutions,' says Dominique Lefebvre, PAM-CAST product manager, ESI Group.
PAM-CAST 2002 offers a suite of additional optional modules for micro-structural nodular cast iron solidification, aluminum gas micro-porosity predictions, thixocasting process simulation, lost foam process simulation.
PAM-CAST 2002 is available on Windows NT and Windows 2000 platforms, as well as UNIX workstations from HP-Compaq, IBM, SGI, and Sun. |
