Over 2500 high purity ChromaDex phytochemical reference standards are now available exclusively from LGC Promochem throughout Europe. Extracted from natural plant material, the ChromaDex range of standards are used to verify the presence of, and accurately quantify, key marker or active compounds - such as hypericin for St John |

There is a rapidly growing awareness both at consumer and regulatory levels of the need for phytochemical reference standards and other assurance control methods throughout the supply chain to ensure the validity, safety and quality of end products. Under the proposed Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products European Directive, ingredient lists and label claims would be required to be verified for those products which fall under the headings of herbals, health supplements and nutraceuticals in what is at present a largely unregulated market.
Elizabeth Bewick, General Manager at LGC Promochem, said: 'Given the current discussions at European level regarding setting standards in this sector, our launch of the ChromaDex range of botanical and nutraceutical reference standards is timely for producers of dietary supplements, functional foods and other plant-derived healthcare products based in Europe. The most common standards, available in user-friendly kits*, allow producers to run their own in-house tests to achieve industry-validated results, simply and quickly. ChromaDex, the market leader in the creation and supply of phytochemical reference standards, successfully combines scientific rigour in its products and a strong customer service commitment, qualities we value in a partnership.'
Frank Jaksch Jr, President and CEO of ChromaDex Inc, said: 'At ChromaDex, we are meeting the need for a consistent set of reference standards to improve accuracy and reliability in both the US and European markets for dietary supplements, phytopharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and functional foods. So that we can provide our European customers with a local, cost-effective supply of our phytochemical range, we are pleased to be in partnership with LGC Promochem, the largest distributor of reference standards in Europe.'
Each phytochemical in the range is featured in the ChromaDex catalogue, ´Phytochemicals reference standards 03/04´, which also recommends which phytochemical reference standard to use for a specific botanical or nutraceutical product. Within the alphabetical listing of each standard in the catalogue, product information includes the chemical structure, formula and family, molecular weight, appearance and other names used.
ChromaDex phytochemical reference standard kits cover the complete range of phytochemical classes available for over 60 common botanical products. Each kit is supplied with the standards specified, certificates of analysis for each standard and a reference method (HPLC or GC). |
