Matrox Video Products Group today announced that Fission Software, Inc. has adopted the Matrox DSX platform for its new Fission 4.0 Broadcast Automation System. Fission 4.0 is a set of four modules, insertion, management, capture, and feed capture, that can either share the same workstation or server hardware, or be fully independent according to specific needs. A system may have as many of each module as the workflow requires. All modules are connected to a database, where information is shared and stored. The same networking and storage infrastructure can be used among different operational areas. This allows Fission to create a cost-effective custom environment scaled to meet the needs of small, medium, or large broadcasters and cable facilities.
'We decided to base our product on the Matrox platform five years ago. There were many reasons for us to rely solely on Matrox. Functionality, reliability, stability, compatibility in the product line, are some of the key factors for this plus the fact that their product roadmap matched our current and future software development demands,' said John Carapella, president of Fission Software, Inc. 'One of Fission's recent projects was a complete installation for all of the local stations and most of the repeater stations of Telesistema Mexicano, part of Grupo Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, and a major player in the international entertainment business. In order to automate its operations, convert to a unified digital environment and cut costs, Televisa performed a massive update that completely relied on Fission along with Matrox hardware for their workflow.' |
