Four new 45V/37V-inch models to lineup of full-spec high-definition AQUOS LCD televisions

Sharp Electronics (Europe) GmbH : 09 January, 2007  (Company News)
Sharp will introduce into the Japanese market four new AQUOS 45V/37V-inch full-spec high-definition LCD TVs, which deliver double the picture detail of normal HDTVs for unparalleled image quality. The addition of these new models means that the AQUOS lineup of eight full-spec high-definition models is now the most extensive in the industry.
It is estimated that the number of households in Japan that can view terrestrial digital broadcasts will exceed 38.5 million, approximately 82% of all households in the country. This milestone at last marks the start of the era of full-fledged digital HDTV picture quality. Sharp is moving quickly to respond to this trend, and is working hard to develop new full-spec high-definition LCD TVs with screen sizes 37V inches and larger.

1. To see high-definition television at its best requires a true full-spec high-definition LCD TV
Full-spec HDTVs are capable of reproducing 100% of the HDTV signal format (1,920 H x 1,080 V pixels), and enable viewers to enjoy HDTV broadcasts as they were intended to be seen, with double the detail of standard HDTVs.

2. Full-spec high-definition LCD TVs mean that an impressively large 45V-inch model can be installed in a mere 10-m2 space
The larger the screen, the more impressive the picture is, for example, when viewing movies or sports programs. With a full-spec high-definition LCD TV, viewers can savor all the excitement of impressive high-resolution pictures with no flicker and incredible detail, and thus, even for the 45V-inch model, the recommended viewing distance is only about 1.7 meters. Plus, the AQUOS, with its thin-profile, space-saving, lightweight design, can be comfortably installed even in spaces just 10 m2 in area (a typical Japanese 6-tatami-mat room).

With the market introduction of 10 models in the new B Series lineup ranging from 45V-inch to 26V-inch, including the four new full-spec HDTV models described here, the AQUOS lineup is now the industry’s most extensive, with 30 models from 65V- to 13V-inch in size. AQUOS continues to meet the needs for flat-panel TVs, which are becoming more numerous and diverse.
