Free fuel immersion guide for melt-processible elastomers published by Advanced Polymer Alloys

Advanced Polymer Alloys has published a “Fuel Immersion Data” guide for its Melt-Processible Elastomers™, including Alcryn® Melt-Processible Rubber™ and DuraMax® TPV. The new Fuel Immersion Guide includes hardness change and retention properties, tensile, elongation, and modulus, for Alcryn MPR 2000BK and 2100BK and for DuraMax TPV 8000 when exposed to ethanol, unleaded gas, diesel, and other fuels. The fuel immersion data is critical to product designers when selecting an MPE to earn maximum fuel resistance. By anticipating which fuels a part will be exposed to, the proper material selection helps eliminate costly backend performance issues, such as possible product failure. The fuel immersion data is also valuable in applications where the current TPE material is underperforming. MPE’s can greatly improve fuel resistance performance.

Alcryn MPR and DuraMax both provide excellent resistance to fuels when compared to TPEs. DuraMax 8000 demonstrated little volume change when exposed to diesel fuel, unleaded gasoline, and other fuels. The 2000 and 2100 series of Alcryn MPR saw similar results.
