GE's Security business today announced it has reached an agreement with Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp.to offer commercial container security services based on the CommerceGuard System. YM will deliver and install CommerceGuard Container Security Devices for customers that want an improved container security and tracking method. |
|
YM's first CommerceGuard customer is a global manufacturer that will monitor shipments from Taiwan to Southeast Asia. The CommerceGuard System provides both shipment security and visibility throughout the supply chain.
YM offers the CommerceGuard System to its customers by distributing CSDs and providing full logistics for the CommerceGuard solution.
CommerceGuard features a CSD that attaches to the inside of an international cargo container and registers openings of the container door. In addition, CommerceGuard provides container visibility at key choke points in the supply chain. Fixed and handheld readers record the status of the CSD in a database that can be accessed by authorized shippers, logistics providers, and government officials anywhere in the world. Various ports around the world have installed CommerceGuard Systems for use among major shippers; including terminals in Asia, US, Europe and Latin America.
'YM's deployment of CommerceGuard demonstrates the extended commercial value and security benefits of our CSD system. Shippers benefit from knowing when their goods are progressing through the supply chain; and they enjoy the assurance of knowing those shipments are secure. These are valuable services that carriers like Yang Ming can offer to their customers,' said Randy Koch, General Manager of GE Security's Cargo Security and CommerceGuard AB. |
