Husky Injection Molding Systems continues to strengthen its leading position in providing PET solutions with its new HyPET systems. The systems are highly flexible platforms that use single-face moulds and feature new cooling and handling technologies.
The HyPET is part of the new lineup of pre-form machines, including the Index, being rolled out. Husky’s new pre-form systems feature prolonged mould life, reduced energy use and lower acetaldehyde (AA) generation. The improved pre-form cooling technologies on the new machines also reduce cycle times and improve pre-form quality.
“The results from all our testing on both platforms have been excellent,” says Mike Urquhart, Husky’s Vice President of PET. “We’re seeing faster cycles, lower clamp tonnage, which will result in reduced mould wear, better repeatability, lower AA generation and better energy efficiency. The net result of all that means much higher output per capital for converters and even better pre-form quality.”
Users of HyPET systems will benefit from approximately 5% faster cycle times, lower energy-usage and wider tiebar spacing to accommodate high-cavitation moulds with larger pitches.
HyPET’s Reflex platens allow moulds to run at lower tonnage, which results in less mould wear. The moving platen is mounted on linear bearings, which further improves alignment and perpendicularity. A new platen-mounted robot, which is faster, more compact and incorporates a simplified hose and cable arrangement, also features an integrated CoolJet system that no longer uses expensive compressed air. And HyPET’s narrower footprint takes up 20% less floor space.
The PC-based Polaris Control system has a faster response time and centralizes operation of the entire system in one place to further reduce cycle time. Polaris also has built-in network connectivity for remote diagnostics and monitoring.
