Stadco, one of Europe's leading suppliers of body-in-white panels and pressings to the automotive industry has announced that it has been awarded the contract to supply the tailgate for MINI.
Stadco has won the contract thanks to its ability to press large, complex, body-in-white panels. Stadco will press the MINI's tailgate at its state-of-the-art facility in Castle Bromwich, West Midlands, the largest independent press facility in the UK and will then supply direct to the BMW Group plant at Oxford.
Constructed on the former Dunlop site, Stadco's Castle Bromwich plant has enjoyed considerable investment since it opened in March 2004. Importantly, the investment has allowed Stadco to engineer the facility so that it is fully compatible with the largest press shops, known as PG1 facilities, of the major vehicle manufacturers. The MINI tailgate will be pressed on the 5-metre bed press line at Castle Bromwich, which is the only line of its kind outside of an OEM in the UK.
Commenting on the contract win, Andrew Morriss, Stadco Managing Director said: 'As a key supplier already to the BMW Group in the UK, we are delighted to be awarded this additional work. As an exterior panel, components such as the tailgate pose specific technical challenges and require a flawless finish in order to meet the highest cosmetic quality standards. The contract underlines the company's confidence in our press shop capabilities and our ability to meet their exacting requirements.'
Stadco is one of Europe's leading suppliers of body-in-white panels and pressings to vehicle manufacturers including Ford, the BMW Group, Jaguar and Land Rover. Stadco has 7 manufacturing sites, 6 in the UK and one in Germany. |
