LGC Promochem, Europe's leading supplier of certified reference materials, has announced its new range of botanical reference materials for specific plants, from artichoke to yarrow. The reference materials are primarily characterised by thin layer chromatography showing a 'fingerprint' of the botanical along with the certified identity and source. Many are also provided with macro and microscopic information for specific genus and species of the plant.
All the botanical reference materials come with the documentation necessary to judge the plant material and to assess the evaluative approach. This includes details of the analytical methods used to make the determinations given on the Certificate of Analysis. Users can, therefore, be confident that their botanical raw material evaluation is comprehensive while affording them the opportunity to begin assessment of the material´s composition.
The botanical reference materials are manufactured by ChromaDex, the market leader in the creation and supply of nutraceutical and botanical reference standards. ChromaDex was established in 1999 to meet a rapidly growing awareness, both at the consumer and government regulatory level, of the need for reference standards and other quality assurance methods to identify active substances, drug/compound interactions and the presence of toxic or adulterating materials. Their new range of botanical reference materials complements the range of ChromaDex botanical and phyto-pharmaceutical reference standards already offered by LGC Promochem. Launching the new product range ChromaDex CEO, Frank Jaksch, said: 'These new botanical reference materials represent a quantum leap in identity testing method development and evaluation for botanical products.
Now our customers have the reference materials and the reference standards they need for assurance today and compliance tomorrow with the upcoming GMPs for dietary supplements. These products offer our customers a complete range of analytical tools to evaluate botanical products from biomass to bottle.' |
