Matrox Graphics Inc., today announced that it would add to its RAD Series line of display controller boards, with the Matrox RAD2mp PCI Express and RAD3mp PCI Express. Designed for the latest PCI Express workstations, the RAD2mp and RAD3mp PCI Express display controller boards provide medical imaging professionals with excellent performance, superb image quality and flexible multi-display options.

Continuing Matrox's world-renowned tradition of imaging excellence, the RAD2mp and RAD3mp PCI Express display controller boards offer dual output support of up to 2 MP and 3 MP grayscale or color, analog or digital displays respectively, and are equipped with Hardware Pivot for smooth and accelerated portrait image displays. The latest PCI Express boards are also capable of driving various combinations of color and grayscale displays in stretched or independent modes, and feature Matrox's real-time grayscale processing technology, ExtendiGray©. For grayscale displays, one feature of ExtendiGray© is the concurrent execution of 8-bit grayscale applications alongside color Microsoft Windows desktop applications such as Word and Internet Explorer without any desktop artifacts. A second feature is the ability to convert color displays to grayscale.

'Matrox continues to provide customers with choices, and we are excited to expand our medical product line for use with the latest PCI Express PC systems with our forthcoming RAD2mp and RAD3mp PCI Express display controller boards,' says George Rigas, medical product manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. 'With these boards, medical imaging professionals can choose between AGP, PCI, and PCI Express to best meet their requirements, all the while retaining the excellent image quality our products are known for.'
