MOLDFLOW CORPORATION TO RESELL MATERIALISE'S MAGICS
|
Materialise NV
: 17 May, 2004 (Company News) |
|
Moldflow Corporation, and Materialise NV, today announced an agreement under which Moldflow will resell a customized version of Materialise's Magics stereolithography (STL) manipulation product designed specifically for the needs of Moldflow's customers in the plastics injection molding industry. |
|
Magics sets the standard for ease of use and efficiency for the cleanup and repair of STL data in preparation for analysis using Moldflow's patented Dual Domain™ technology.
In choosing to partner with Materialise, Moldflow is providing customers the option to utilize a world leading technology which was originally designed for the preparation of 3-D model geometry data for the physical manufacture of STL parts. Materialise's Magics is a perfect complement to Moldflow products because most Dual Domain analyses start with an STL model and the Materialise technology can be used to cleanup, repair and optimize the STL model, resulting in decreased model preparation and analysis time. Furthermore, as the release of MPA warpage and cooling analysis capability broadens the mid-range plastics analysis market, Moldflow anticipates a widespread need for Magics capability among its user base.
'We are excited about this partnership with Materialise as we believe this will directly benefit Moldflow customers working with STL model data,' commented Ken Welch, executive vice president and general manager of Moldflow's design analysis solutions business unit. 'The time savings customers realize by using Materialise technology will increase productivity and allow them to analyze even more designs using Moldflow design analysis solutions products.'
'We are very contented that Moldflow wants to include Magics as an integral part of their simulation solutions,' commented Wilfried Vancraen, Materialise' managing director. 'We are confident that Magics will enable users of Moldflow's virtual prototyping solutions to maximize the benefits of their simulation package. The use of STL, the rapid prototyping standard, in virtual prototyping applications increases the application scope of Magics for our customers.'
The proprietary Magics product is expected to be shipped and available to customers by calendar year-end. |
