Eutectic UK has developed and patented a new spray-and-fused powder alloy for one of the toughest corrosion and wear applications available, leading to significant cost savings.
When a cement manufacturer came to Eutectic with an extreme mixed corrosion problem, combined with high temperature abrasion wear we accepted the challenge. Part of the market-leading Eutalloy range, this new allow, 53 606, is nickel-based but has high levels of special additives such as silicon, boron and molybdenum which give the deposit a hardness of over 600 HV, which remains at 500°C.
'This is ideal for applications such as boiler tubes in the Power Generation sector' comments Warren Lewis, Product Manager 'as well as Chemical, Waste Recycling and Pulp & Paper industries where corrosion at high temperatures is prevalent'.
The Eutalloy powder range uses a unique surface alloying and self-fluxing process that can be applied on a variety of metals. The high hardness values it achieves lead to substantial increases in both the performance and endurance of plant of equipment, which means significant cost savings.
