New GT electrical connector exceeds 30,000 psi @ 450

This new addition to Greene, Tweed's Seal-Connect product offerings is customer driven and designed to help users meet the challenges of new fields of exploration that require drilling in extreme temperatures, higher pressures and even more sour gas exposure than previously experienced.

Greene, Tweed's XCD line continues to capitalize on the excellent insulation resistance at elevated temperatures inherent in the molded Arlon 2000 construction methodology as compared to erratic electrical performance seen in glass?to-metal seal assemblies. Neil Mendes, general manager of Greene, Tweed's oilfield business, notes why the XCD 30,000 psi @ 450F connector is ideal for hostile conditions, 'The electrical performance of Seal-Connect is superior at elevated temperatures since the insulation resistance is extremely high and stable. The maintenance of this property over an extended period increases the life of the tool, lowers the cost of repair and decreases power consumption since a higher percentage of the signal strength is passing through the connector.' All of this translates into cost-effective, reliable service for Seal-Connect users.

Greene, Tweed's design engineers work collaboratively with customers in creating the best connector for each application. Seal-Connect designs are available with several different types of pin materials, providing customers with the highest conductivity and reliability possible. From standard beryllium copper pins to corrosion-resistant Inconel or high conductivity oxygen-free copper (if power requirements dictate), flexibility in pin material is another distinct advantage of Seal-Connect designs over traditional glass-to-metal sealing.
