A new transmissive optical sensor featuring a unique horizontal slot construction was announced today by Vishay Intertechnology. With a 0.5-mm aperture, the Vishay Telefunken TCST5250 is optimized for high-accuracy sensing of horizontal-moving objects in shaft encoders, VCRs, data storage equipment, the code wheels of DC motors, and other space-limited products.
Housed in a plastic polycarbonate package with a height of only 9 mm, the TCST5250 provides a 2.7-mm gap and a lead pitch of 2.54 mm. As a transmissive sensor, it is further optimized for use in compact end product designs through the direct face-to-face positioning of an infrared emitter and phototransistor detector on the same optical axis.
The TCST5250 features an operating wavelength of 950 nm, with a 0.4-mm resolution and a typical current transfer ratio of 7.5%. The device is designed with a positioning pin that ensures high-accuracy assembly. Additionally, the TCST5250 provides protection against ambient light with an integrated daylight filter that significantly reduces light interference.
With a highly accurate 0.5-mm aperture, a fast switching speed, and our new horizontal slot construction, the TCST5250 transmissive optical sensor keeps pace with today's market demand for continually smaller, high-performance equipment and is ideal for designers who need high-precision switching in even the most space-constricted products. Samples and production quantities of the TCST5250 transmissive optical sensor are available now. The lead time for larger orders is six to eight weeks. |
