The new Vishay Dale WSL3921 and WSL5931 are ideal for all types of current-sensing, voltage division, and pulse applications including switching and linear power supplies, instruments, and power amplifiers in automotive electronic controls; battery-charging systems and motor controls in consumer products; and motor controls in industrial systems. |

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced two new low-value, surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistors with power ratings of 3.0 W and 5.0 W and extremely low resistance values down to 0.2 mΩ.
The new WSL3921 resistor measures 0.394 in. by 0.205 in. [10.0 mm by 5.2 mm] with a maximum height profile of 0.071 in. [1.80 mm], and the WSL5931 resistor measures 0.591 in. by 0.305 in. [15.0 mm by 7.75 mm] with a height profile of 0.068 in. [1.73 mm]. A proprietary processing technique produces low resistance values ranging from 0.2 mΩ to 4.0 mΩ with tight tolerances of 1.0% and 5.0%.
Like all Power Metal Strip resistors, the new devices released today feature an all-welded construction that contributes to their superior electrical performance. The WSL3921 and WSL5931 provide very low inductance of 0.5 nH to 5 nH, extdent frequency response, and low thermal EMF. They also provide good overload capability, using the printed circuit board as a cooling device, and long-term stability through a broad range of environmental conditions. As a result, the WSL3921 and WSL5931 enable design of higher-performing, longer-lasting end products.
The accuracy and low resistance values of the WSL3921 and WSL5931 resistors enable designers to use less-expensive ICs and help end systems to operate at maximum performance. These new resistors also enable designers to use a single low-value resistor in place of multiple high-value resistors running in parallel. |
