New Pegasus precision plasma cutting machine
|
ESAB Group
: 26 September, 2000 (New Product) |
|
The new Pegasus precision plasma cutting machine takes advantage of the latest developments in Esab's precision plasma technology to produce cut parts at laser quality, but at a fraction of the cost. High efficiency and productivity rates are key benefits of the Pegasus which can achieve cutting speeds of 40 metres / minute and cut mild steel up to 20mm and stainless steel or aluminium up to 16mm thick. |

Features such as high speed raising and lowering of the cutting torch, pre-flow and pre-switch of plasma gases, rapid beam travel and high speed CNC information processing, promote high productivity. An arc voltage system controls cutting torch height precisely and automatically whilst its rapid up and down travel maximises available cutting time. The design of the torch holding system allows fast consumable change, precise torch alignment and provides collision protection.
Another feature of the Pegasus which contributes to its high performance plasma cutting standards is the integral plasma arc system. This constricts the plasma stream and promotes high accuracy, narrow kerf and a high quality cut, low dross, a smooth cut-face, a narrow heat affected zone and a low bevel angle.
High speed operation is achieved in part through the design of the Pegasus which has a rigid machine beam with linear guides and bearings to maintain accuracy throughout the cutting area. Synchronised digital AC drives in the longitudinal direction provide tight machine control at high cutting speeds.
Pegasus is the first cutting machine from the international ESAB Cutting Systems group to be built with common components for all world markets. In the UK it will be promoted and supported by ESAB Automation Limited. |
