New Shenzhen facility to offer FTO quick-delivery systems, reduced lead times

Husky Injection Molding Systems, one of the world's leading hot runner suppliers, has officially opened its new Shenzhen manufacturing facility, the company's second hot runner operation in China.
Like Husky's existing Shanghai operation, which opened in late 2004, Shenzhen will produce quick-delivery Finish to Order hot runner systems for local customers.

'The new Shenzhen operation allows us to be closer to our growing customer base in the Pearl River Delta,' Marcus Sutch, President of Husky Asia, said. 'It also gives us the ability to further reduce lead times. This expansion is another positive step for Husky's growing hot runner and mold manufacturing operations in Asia.'

Husky's FTO hot runners are made specifically for the Asian market. They feature lead times of two weeks or less and give molders and mold makers a cost-effective solution for complete systems, without compromising performance or limiting flexibility.

'Husky understands hot runner requirements in Asia are unique,' says Dinesh Budapanahalli, Husky's General Manager for hot runners in Asia. 'Customers want simplified ordering, short lead-times and low cost without compromising quality. FTO hot runners provide rapid delivery of fully configurable, made-in-China hot runner systems at a cost expected by the market.'

FTO hot runners match industry-standard mold base plate sizes and are available in 2- and 4-drop systems. Mold designers can select any nozzle pitch and length to fit gating- and cavity-spacing requirements within a defined range.

Ordering an FTO hot runner system has been simplified. A one-page form requiring pitch, L-dimension, nozzle, plate size and resin information, along with any required logistical information, is all that is required. Configuring an FTO hot runner is just as easy, with nozzle size, gating style, manifold configuration and a compatible mold-frame size for plate selection the only requirements.

Husky showcases machine technology for closures
Hylectric delivers performance needed for fast, high output production

DUDELANGE, Luxembourg, Husky demonstrated two high-performance Hylectric closure systems in production at the Packaging Days event at its Luxembourg Technical Center, demonstrating the company's commitment to closure applications.

'Demand for our Hylectric machines for closure applications keeps growing,' says Fabio Dal Grande, Closure Market Manager at Husky. 'With the steep rise in polymer prices, closure manufacturers are turning to lightweighting and to high-performance machinery to extract the full benefits of their lightweighting activities.'

Both systems in display are based on Hylectric H300 machines. The first machine, equipped with a 48-cavity mold from Swiss mold maker Corvaglia, produces 38 mm closures at a cycle time of 4.6 seconds. The other machine, equipped with a 64-cavity mold from Austrian mold maker KTW, produce 28 mm closures at a cycle time of 5.2 seconds. Both systems feature a shot-to-shot repeatability in excess of 99.8%, demonstrating the accuracy of the Hylectric machine.

The Hylectric is the preferred machine platform for many leading closure manufacturers, as it provides the flexibility and features required for the most demanding applications. Husky hot runner systems for closures also have found wide acceptance, with improved designs that offer increased efficiency, better part quality, faster color changes and improved productivity.
