NEW SOFTWARE CREATES THE ULTIMATE ADDISON-MCKEE TUBE MEASURING AND INSPECTION MACHINE.

Lancashire-based Addison-McKee Ltd, the acknowledged world-leaders in tube bending technology, have further enhanced their highly proven Addata-Plus tube measuring system with innovative new software specifically designed to make product inspection easier and more convenient than ever before.
Called the Addata “G” Plus, this latest model was created to further simplify the transition between non-contact and co-ordinate measuring requirements and harnesses the latest “G-tube” measuring technology, developed in association with French software specialists, Romar.

The Addata “G” Plus system also incorporates a range of powerful features designed to make the whole process of component inspection, measurement and data collection exceptionally user friendly.

Advanced Addata technology.

Widely accepted as a revolutionary non-contact tube measuring and inspection system, Addison-McKee’s Addata-Plus technology has long been recognised as the “total tube data” solution for virtually every industry involved in the manufacture of tubular components.

Specifically designed to smoothly interface with all Addison-McKee CNC Databend machines, the system is based around a sophisticated “V-probe” non-contact light beam that requires no clamping devices and provides totally distortion-free measuring.

Information generated can then be used to programme any number of CNC bending machines to replicate a given component, to compensate for material springback and stretching during the bending process or to inspect manufactured components against specified requirements.

By changing the “V-probe” measuring head for a contact ball probe, the machine is easily converted to a co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) for the accurate measurement of components incorporating flanges and brackets as well as for measuring numerous nontubular shapes and fixings.

Integrated software for added convenience.

Where changing the measuring head also previously involved switching from one DOSbased measuring programme to another, in the new Addata “G” Plus model, Addison- McKee have developed a completely integrated Windows 2000-based operating system, with software changes at the click of a mouse.

Exceptionally user-friendly.

In addition to allowing an instant transition between measuring heads, the new Windowsbased system allows for the easy, automatic transfer of recorded data into Excel® or any other required format. For the operator, information is also much better visually presented via enhanced graphics and the latest flat-screen monitor technology.

Fully integrated system.

Totally self-controlled and free standing, the Addata “G” Plus system consists of a freestanding table unit, an optical probe attached to a 5-Axis digitally encoded measuring arm, a Windows-based pc system, 15” TFT monitor, keyboard and printer. There is also an interface which, when connected to a LAN, will enable data transmission to any Addison- McKee Databend CNC tube bending machines.

Simple to operate.

The Addata “G” Plus is exceptionally simple to operate, requiring only two points on each straight section of tubing to be “probed”. For ease of use, the system even provides different sound tones for each stage of the measuring process.

As well as springback and tube stretch correction and reverse engineering data capture (increasingly important in the manufacture of replacement exhaust systems), the Addata “G” Plus system allows for the creation of graphics to allow pipe shapes on screen or as hard copies, storage of bending programmes, full tooling management and a leap-frog facility for long tubes.

As a component-development tool, the Addata “G” Plus offers “reverse tube” mirror image, plus “move”, “combine” and “split” bend features to assist in the design of new components.

Advanced mathematics.

Where conventional contact measuring systems have struggled with the measurement of bends of less than 30°, (as the correct linear location of the bend and the position of bend varies increasingly as the angle approaches zero) the Addata “G” Plus features advanced mathematics to eliminate discrepancies. Similarly, where bends of over 150° have also caused problems, the system once again sets the precise location of the bend arc.

“G-Pad software provides 3-D inspection.

By replacing the Addata “G” Plus “V” probe with a ball or point probe, the benefits of the powerful new Addata “G-pad” suite of geometric inspection software can also be used. With quick menu access, easy-to-read graphics and icons, five reference possibilities with macros for repetitive inspection and results automatically created in Excel®, thorough 3-D inspection and data analysis has never been simpler.
