New TIG welding machine offers versatility, reliability & high performance

ESAB Group : 05 November, 2003  (New Product)
ESAB has added a new model to its range of high-efficiency, high-quality TIG welding machines in the form of the AristoTig 400. With a choice of control panels and a range of accessories, this new unit will appeal to users who are working on-site either installing new fabrications or working on repair or maintenance tasks. Sealed to IP23 and with a built-in dust filter, the AristoTig 400 can be used indoors or outdoors.

At a 35% duty cycle the new machine delivers 400 A at 26 V and is capable of operating with welding electrodes up to 6 mm in diameter or gouging electrodes up to 8 mm in diameter. When used for manual metal arc welding, the unit welds alloyed and non-alloyed steels, stainless steel and cast iron.

While the AristoTig 400 has been designed to maintain ESAB's reputation for producing rugged welding machines, the machine benefits from an Alutech extruded aluminium chassis that helps to save weight. Meanwhile, ESAB's proven IGBT inverter technology ensures that performance and reliability are excellent. A further contributory factor behind the high reliability is the use of a CAN-bus communications and control system that reduces cabling.

Customers can choose between the T4 and T6 man-machine communications control panels. Both are ergonomically designed to be user-friendly and feature digital displays of current/voltage. The T4 has a single knob for controlling the current and six soft buttons for arc force, hot start, gas pre/post flow, slope up/down, HF/Lift Arc and 2/4 stroke; additional features on the T6 include a choice of electrode type, gas purge, a memory for up to ten sets of parameters and pulsed TIG controls for improved performance on thin sheet.

Other options and accessories include a version of the AristoTig with integral water cooling for use with compatible TIG torches, a multi-voltage unit capable of operating from a variety of supply voltages, as well as trolleys, remote controls and foot pedal controls.
