New Vishay Telefunken miniflat optocoupler series

A new series of four-pin optocouplers that feature a 2-mm height profile-one of the industry's thinnest for this device type-has been announced by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. The new Vishay Telefunken Miniflat devices consist of a phototransistor optically coupled to a gallium arsenide infrared-emitting diode. Intended for current isolation, the eight new TCMT11xx Miniflat optocouplers released today are optimized for miniaturized products such as PCMCIA cards, notebook modems, telecommunications products, programmable logic controllers, and other designs requiring a high level of package integration.

Intended for current isolation, the eight new TCMT11xx Miniflat optocouplers released today are optimized for miniaturized products such as PCMCIA cards, notebook modems, telecommunications products, programmable logic controllers, and other designs requiring a high level of package integration.

Built on Vishay Telefunken co-planar technology, the four-lead Miniflat optocouplers ensure maximum safety and reliability by providing a stable distance between the emitter and detector chips. Providing an insulation voltage of 3,750 Vrms, the surface-mountable devices also feature a transistor output and a forward current of 60 mA. Vishay offers eight different CTR options in the TCMT11xx family, with values ranging from 80% to 600%. Additional series features include a wide operating ambient temperature range spanning from -40C to +100C, a low typical coupling capacitance of just 0.3 pF, and a low temperature coefficient of current transfer ratio.

Vishay's new Miniflat optocoupler series is ideal for telecommunications and industrial designers who need to overcome space-restraints and the component reliability issues that ensue from them. The new product line combines Vishay's ultra-reliable co-planar technique and a compact 2-mm height profile to create an optocoupler that facilitates a more streamlined end product design.

All eight of the TCMT11xx devices are supplied in reel and tape packaging for high-speed assembly, with 3,000 pieces per reel. Samples of the optocouplers are available now. Production quantities are available now, with lead times of four weeks for larger orders.
