Novel quadro nozzle for two-part adhesive applicator

3M Europe : 01 September, 2003  (New Product)
3M is introducing a new quadro mixing nozzle for its EPX adhesive dispenser system to make the application process easier and to improve material usage.
For a component of this size the new design is a radical advance. The standard helical feature of the nozzle has been replaced by a square mixing chamber of reduced length. The result is a shorter more rigid nozzle that allows better flow, particularly of the higher viscosity adhesives, and greater precision in directing the adhesive onto the surfaces to be bonded.

A further advantage provided by this novel design is a reduction in material wastage. With the standard nozzle configuration an average of 3.45 ml of adhesive remained unexpended. The new chambered-design reduces residual waste to only 1.3 ml, which represents a significant increase in cost efficiency.

Apart from its physical appearance the new nozzle is differentiated by its gold colour, which visually describes its superior status and, importantly, will match with the new global branding colour, newly introduced into the European market, of 3M Scotch-Weld two-part structural adhesives. Each of the products in this family of adhesives will carry an additional colour code for ease of identification.

The new 3M EPX dispenser system nozzle can be used in conjunction with 50 ml cartridges for all 3M epoxy, polyurethane and some acrylics structural adhesives with both 1:1 and 2:1 mix ratios.
