Traditionally screwing, riveting and welding have been the established techniques used for assemblies demanding high bonding strength and durability. However, designers and engineers across a broad industry spectrum are discovering the amazing capabilities of double sided acrylic foam tapes. |
|
With double sided acrylic foam tapes, inherent ease and speed of application makes assembly both simple and cost-effective, as investment in major plant is eliminated and labour and material costs are minimised. Add to this proven reliability and a smooth, seamless end-product, and it is clear why industry is turning to this state-of-the-art fastening solution for a wide range of demanding applications.
3M is a leading player in this process change. They tried and tested all acrylic double-sided tapes equal the bonding performance of mechanical fastening systems but with some significant advantages. Professional results are consistently achieved with minimum effort and expertise. A single cleaning process replaces the multiple cleaning, abrasion and priming stages of traditional assemblies. There are no holes to drill and the pressure sensitive adhesive bonds and seals simultaneously. Furthermore, the tapes enable dissimilar materials to be bonded including aluminium, stainless steel, wood and plastics.
The tapes deliver not only the ability to bond with consistent reliability, but also an inherent strength and durability in harsh environmental conditions. They offer excellent resistance to stress, fatigue, vibration, thermal shock, moisture and UV light. And instead of concentrating stress, the tapes provide a continuous flexible bond, which distributes stress along the entire surface.
Engineered adhesives also set new standards in aesthetics and comply with the highest hygiene and sanitary standards. Customers prefer the sleek, seamless bonding to the visual interruptions of screws or rivets. Furthermore, the tapes will not damage the substrate when it is being applied, as, for example, screwing a painted surface. |
