Consolidation by Sandvik Steel of the sales, production and distribution of its Bioline medical steels has meant Sandvik Metinox, based in Sheffield joining forces with Sandvik P&P, Sandvik Steel's sales and production unit in Germany.

Sandvik Metinox, operating from a purpose built warehouse in Sheffield, continues its role as the worldwide marketing and distribution centre for the Sandvik Bioline range of stainless steel bars, profiles, special shapes, tubes and strip. Sandvik P&P specialises in the production of tight tolerance, stainless steel, cannulated bars, small diameter and capillary tubes for a variety of medical and surgical implant applications.
The key benefit for customers is access to an extended product range. Sandvik P&P will focus its main sales activities on its traditional markets in Scandinavia, Benelux, Germany and Switzerland, whilst Sandvik Metinox has sales responsibility for medical product manufacturers in the rest of the world.
The Bioline range of stainless implant steels includes all product forms required to produce temporary and permanent orthopaedic implants, fracture management systems and coronary stents. The broader Bioline range also includes stainless steel strip, wire and tubular products for the manufacture of surgical tools and other medical devices.
There are two stainless Bioline steel grades used in the manufacture of implants - Sandvik Bioline 316LVM (ASTM F138-97) and Sandvik Bioline High-N (ASTM F1586-95). Both are molybdenum alloyed stainless steels which meet the requirements of all existing standards for medical and implant materials.
Mill manufactured items are supplied from Sandvik Steel's mills around the world giving total control of production and quality from steel melt to finished product.
