Sandvik Coromant UK
: 24 November, 2003 (Company News) |
The range of special stainless steel tubes for high temperature service, held in stock by Sandvik Materials Technology, has been extended with the addition of 27 sizes in AISI grade 310S/310H (UNS 31008/S31009).
Also designated Sandvik 7RE10, the new stock standard grade is available in selected sizes between 3/8' and 6' nominal bore schedule pipe and 13.5mm to 114.3mm outside diameter metric tube.
Suitable for high temperature applications, such as muffle tubes, pyrometer sheathing or in high temperature oxidation furnaces, Sandvik 7RE10 is a 25% chromium, 20% nickel austenitic stainless steel with good oxidation resistance. It is supplied in accordance with ASTM A312/ASME SA-312, NFA 49-117, the analysis and mechanical properties of SEW 470 and to DIN 17458 PK.1 test standards and offers better high temperature performance and a longer life than traditional 18% chromium stainless steels.
Sandvik has five stainless steel grades for high temperature service in its standard stock programme and a total of 20 high temperature grades in its standard manufacturing programme. As well as muffle tubes for the wire drawing industry and pyrometer tubes, typical end uses include ethylene furnaces, waste incineration, recuperators and air heaters for the glass, steel and carbon black industries.
