Sandvik Materials Technology at Ligna 2003
|
Sandvik Coromant UK
: 23 May, 2003 (Company News) |
|
New for Ligna 2003, Sandvik Materials Technology and its subsidiary Suomen Sandvik Oy are launching the Sandvik Woodworking Products Services organisation, set up to offer sawmills the possibility of outsourcing the responsibility for the maintenance of woodworking tools and the alignment and grinding of machine pulleys. |
|
Sandvik will also have on show a full range of woodband saw steels and blades and will feature the ongoing development of the Multishift™ bandsawing concept including the Double Cut® blade and the new Sandvik WM steel for mobile woodband saws.
The Sandvik Woodworking Products Services organisation enables Sandvik to take the responsibility from sawmills for the maintenance of all woodworking tools or, alternatively, all woodworking tools and the alignment and grinding of machine pulleys. In both options, the customer continues to own the tools. In option one, Sandvik services the tools, based on a fixed cost per sawn volume. In option two, Sandvik services the tools based on a fixed cost per sawn volume and undertakes preventative maintenance of machines for an annual fixed cost per machine.
During Ligna 2003, Sandvik will hold seminars to present and explain the new Service concept.
The Double Cut bandsaw blade features a tipping material developed by Kock GmbH, used in conjunction with Sandvik Multishift blades. Manufactured by Sandvik subsidiary, Suomen Sandvik Oy, Double Cut offers longer sawing times before re-grinding. Up to three times longer compared to normal blade tipping methods is claimed.
In response to increased global demand for mobile woodband saws, Sandvik has developed a new steel specially for this application. Designed as a highquality product, the steel properties include increased tensile strength. Available in any width, in standard thicknesses of 0.90mm and 1.07mm, the material can be supplied within 4-6 weeks. Examples of the new saw blade will be on show at Ligna.
